lovely setting on the river
Lovely setting overlooking the Illinois river. Plenty of beds, bathrooms, and seating for our family reunion. The fireplaces indoors and outside were great. We loved the piano, which was in tune, for our sing alongs. And the large deck outside was wonderful for enjoying morning coffee and bird watching on the river. The water supply is from a well so bring bottled water for drinking and coffee making if you don‘t like the heavy iron taste of well water. Make sure to catch sunset over the river.

DONT DO IT!!
The refrigerator broke and the host’s only response was “unplug it for the night”. We lost all the food we bought. The AC in the house DOES NOT WORK! We had 5+ fans going in the house, plus the AC on, and the temp never went below 85 degrees. The host’s reaction was “well, it’s not 110 in here but it’s hot.” We left and the host only gave a partial refund, even though we lost hundreds of dollars in food and had to purchase fans for inside the house. Also do NOT trust Vrbo’s “book with confidence” claim. I spent two months trying to get hold of them and get a response on a proper refund of the full amount and they have yet to give a straight answer. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT risk booking this home and having to deal with the host. Also the host mentioned they have other properties, so be on the lookout to avoid those as well. I’ll no longer be using Vrbo in the future.

Cozy Riverside Property with Beautiful Views and Access to Peoria
I went on this trip with a group of friends during Labor Day weekend for a Fantasy Football draft. This was a great experience overall, and I would recommend this for property for any group who wants to have a nice getaway. The first thing that struck us upon arrival was the breathtaking view of the Illinois River. The property's location is truly remarkable, offering a serene and picturesque backdrop for our holiday escape. We spent countless hours lounging on the private deck, sipping coffee in the morning sun, and toasting to beautiful sunsets in the evening. The tap water on this property uses a water-softener system, so there is a smell some may people may be unfamiliar with. We recommend loading up on plenty of bottled water for drinking. This property is close to Peoria and plenty of of nearby cities. This gives you access to plenty of shopping and restaurant options. The sleeping arrangements were more than sufficient for our group. Some of the beds are small, so be cognizant of that. There is a huge TV in the back room that was perfect for gaming or watching anything else. The house also had good wifi for us to stream stuff. Overall, our trip to this riverside rental property was a blast. It offered the perfect blend of relaxation and coziness in a stunning natural setting.

A little rusty
This stay was a little rocky at the start. Someone else was occupying the house when we first arrived and had to get a hotel room for the night. The homeowner did compensate us the rate of one nights stay for this mistake. The air was a little warmer in the house than we preferred and when we couldn’t seem to get the air temperature to drop over 24 hours the homeowners did show up to work on the outside unit which worked wonders. My main complaint about this stay was about the water. The water has such a strong rust component in it that it stains the showers orange and any white clothing washed in the washer. Overall the homeowners were helpful with helping us solve issues during our stay.

Christmas in July
As my family get older we have decided to make memories instead of giving presents. We had a wonderful time at this house on the river. The weather was great. We fished, kayaked and had a fire by the water. The only complaint I have is I wish it wasn't mayfly season. WOW! But we had a big table to gather around and play games. Definitely made memories that I, the gramma, will remember. Thank you to the host.

Celebration of life event stay
This place worked fine for us. We just stayed here while attending a celebration of life event in nearby Washington IL, so really we did not spend a lot of time in the house. There was plenty of room for the 8 of us and the 3 bathrooms helped make it easy for everyone to get ready at the same time. We enjoyed coffee over looking the lake/river area from the back room. Other reviews are correct in stating some work is needed on the house. It does seem that some work is started and perhaps more is planned. Certainly this could be a special place with some investment. We had no problem communicating with the owner/manager, so all in all this worked fine for us.

Beautiful location
Beautiful location, right on the water. Very spacious with room for all of us who flew in from Cali for my daughters wedding. It could use a good thorough cleaning. Needed dusting, thick layers of dust on ceiling fans, clogged dirty bathtub, etc. Still loved the place dirt and all!

Great getaway.
Perfect for what we needed and plenty of room for the family to stay and spend time together. Beautiful location, enjoyed the grill and fire pit. We did have to fill the propane tank to use the grill, but everything can’t be perfect. Thanks for sharing your space, enjoyed it!

Fun Lake House - Needs Upgrades
The house has had some good work and upgrades. Nice floors and countertops. Fun design and theme. I appreciate it. However, there are too many issues beyond these points: 1. Biggest problem was the water smelt and tasted rusty. I washed my clothes and it stained them yellowish... Even brushing your teeth was not enjoyable 2. Beds were not great. Some were ok. The other half not. 3. Ants always in the upper bathroom 4. Kitchen is lacking utensils/items. 5. The temperature between the upper and main floors are pretty inconsistent.

The house was practically steps from the Illinois river. There was plenty of room for my family to relax and have fun activities. The owner was very quick to respond to my requests. I will book this property again.

Do not trust this host!
We made this reservation months in advance for our family to attend our son’s graduation. They took our money, but never provided entry information. We showed up to the property shortly after check-in time hoping they would be there or something, and they didn’t show. VRBO tried multiple times to contact them, but with no response. VRBO was great to work with, but I hope I get my refund now. We had to make last minute arrangements at a hotel for all 10 in our group.

My experience was overall good. A few recommendations would be a little more cleaning in cracks and crevices throughout the entire house. Spiderwebs, cat hair, dust and flies were the main issues we had issues with. Refrigerator bottom mold. Make sure ceiling fans, TV and WIFI works and all appliances work. At 1269 I’d suggest replace all toilets due to yellow rings around them. Thanks for allowing us to stay. We’d definitely stay again. 👍🏾

Cozy riverfront home
We gathered here at this home for a early Thanksgiving get-together. It easily accommodated us with room to spare. 5 of us stayed here but the dinner hosted 22. The river view was beautiful and the owner answered anything we needed quickly. I would book this home again. Thanks for the relaxing retreat in your beautiful home.

Spacious and comfortable remodeled home with far more to offer than the listed amenities. Owners have upgraded kitchen, outdoor decks and two living areas. Each bedroom has its own new Television. Owner was responsive and helpful! Property is located on a lake with a great view and terrific fishing if you have down time!

Girls Weekend
Every year we find a location for a get together for 7 or 8 friends.. Keep in mind we're a bunch of 50 year old women. That being said there are certain things that we expect in a place we are paying to stay at. We did enjoy the house as a whole it had a nice layout and a view of the river in back however we could not sit on the back deck because there were no umbrellas on the tables when it was raining or Sunny you were in direct sunlight or rain so we spent most of the time sitting on the front porch. If you are people that like to sit outside late and talk and laugh be aware there are neighbors directly to the right & left of you and they ask you to not make any loud noise after 11 PM. Some other issues were communication with the host. I had been promised a code sent the day before and the morning of I still had not gotten any response. Finally around 10 AM we got a door code. We were a little freaked out because we had people traveling in from different directions. The biggest issue was the cleanliness. We paid a $175 for a cleaning fee and the house was pretty disgusting. Dirty dishes left in dishwasher, popcorn on upstairs floor, filthy freezer, had to clean coffee pot for it to work. Dirty old used Band-Aid laying in shower. Inside of upstairs shower didn't look like it's been cleaned ever. The floors were so filthy the bottom of our feet were literally black with dirt. Well water smell like rotten eggs. I know this is a fairly new rental but they need to stock it better. They advertise 10 people limit and there were only 4 plates, barely any utensils or pots and pans. There were only 7 towels and there were 7 of us which means we had to do laundry twice while we were there just to have clean towels. Luckily we had brought our own paper plates plastics silverware and cups. You will definitely need to do this if you are staying here. We also ran out of toilet paper by the 3rd day and had to make a run to get more toilet paper there were empty soap containers in each room we found a few extra under the sink. There is only enough seating for about 5 people in the living room and and 3 in the extra room with the TV so it's not able to have everyone sit & watch a movie together unless you're sitting on hard kitchen chairs. With some TLC and actually some cleaning and stocking it could be a very nice rental. We of course still enjoyed our time because of being together. This is not a place we will use again.

Nice stay for a good price.
The house is spacious and was plenty big for my family of 7 and my dad. There was an issue checking in using the keypad but that was resolved shortly upon arriving to the house. The house itself has a lot of character and being close to the river was a big plus for us. Yes, water comes from a well so it’ll have an odor but it wasn’t unbearable. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Not as clean as I would have expected for a amount I paid for a cleaning fee. Dirty dishes left in dish washer, something blue spilled all over in the freezer. We had to strip the beds and wash the towels before checkout. Not enough plates, silverware and towels for 12 people. Was missing a twin bed that was shown to be in one of the rooms. The yard was a wreck, dock in 10 pieces, dead flowers, 3 foot tall weeds by the deck. Broken hot tub that was filling up with rain water. Patio furniture without any cushions on the deck. Pictures show a 2 car garage, but it is off limits to guests. Bedrooms upstairs do not get cool. House has a lot of potential with correct management/ upkeep.

Lake house stay
The property overall was nice. Upon arrival, we realized a bed that was listed was missing, but fortunately we were able to figure out sleeping arrangements regardless of the missing bed. We think the cleaning crew didn’t take out the trash from the previous renters because the smell of the trash cans outside was so foul, it was hard to breathe. Upon entering the garage, there were also 4 bags of garbage when we arrived, not helping the smell. However, once in the house, you couldn’t smell anything. The house was very nice inside and made for a great accommodation considering the circumstances Of the area and price point. If not for the trash situation, I wouldn’t hesitate to return if I had reason to head out to Peoria again. I had no problem communicating with the host after they disclosed their phone number in the itinerary.

What they don't tell you.
What I wish someone had told me: 1. Host isn't interested in communicating with you. All correspondence went unanswered until 20 minutes before check in. That's a problem when you have people coming from all over the country and most of them elderly. 2. House sleeps 14 adults but you only get 1 key. 3. Deadbolts mean you can't pull it closed behind you. It is really scary when a strangers bolts into the house and tell you they are still staying there and want their possessions back. 4. Host texts the response, "we don't know them, call the police". 5. Notice the things stranger said he wanted back, were piled on the trash at the end of the driveway. 6. The water stinks like sewer (I know well water, and that is not it). It smells so bad you don't want to wash in it let alone drink it. You have to go to the store and buy enough bottled water to even brush your teeth. 7. Air conditioning only reaches the master bedroom. The other 12 people are miserable. 8. Not sure why this host even pretends. Run, don't walk.
