Wedding party
During down time it was nice to have bon fires near the lake. Upstairs was warm for sleeping. Stairs difficulty for our 80 year old mother. We enjoyed watching the bladed eagles in the tree on the property.

Great Labor Day family Vacay!
Big house with lots of room to enjoy. Amazing views of lake and sunsets. Great location with lots of options for dining and entertainment. We made some memories that we'll cherish for a lifetime. I did misunderstand the listing, the house is 3br upstairs and an open room (no privacy) with Murphy bed downstairs. Overall definitely a 5 star property. Thanks to the owners for sharing.

Wonderful Stay!
Our family had a lovely time, it's a beautiful home on a great lake! Darrin was very responsive. We appreciated previous reviews about the water (strong sulfur taste/smell), so we brought our own drinking water and all was good. All in all, we had a wonderful week!

Perfect for our family reunion
Beautiful home overlooking Lake Melissa. Clean and well decorated. Darrin extremely good communicator--enjoyed meeting him. Beautiful grounds with a golf cart to go down the hill to the lake. Highly recommend.

Great Family Trip!
If your looking for a clean and updated home with plenty of space inside and out, this is it. Our family was able to ice fish, pull kids in sleds, and have a winter bonfire outdoors on the property...then cook meals and relax in the large and open concept living room area. If you want a winter weekend getaway this is a great spot...would love to rent in the summer sometime also!

Week long fall stay
Beautiful home and property. Home is updated and has all the amenities of home - no need to bring extra kitchen stuff, bath towels, etc. Very quiet and a nice view of the lake. The lake is down a hill but easy to get to with golf cart provided - has a nice little fire area down by the lake as well as up by the house. Owner was quick to respond to any questions and accommodating. PLENTY of space for a family or group to stay comfortably.

Clean, updated, and conveniently located lake cabin
At the time of booking this lake cabin there were no reviews to go off of as it was newly listed. My family and I were very pleased! Beautifully updated lake cabin with everything you could need. Conveniently located along Highway 59 just south of DL. On the off chance you forgot something a quick trip to town isn’t an issue. Kitchen was well stocked with the basic cooking utensils. Do bring bottled water if you plan on making coffee in the coffee pot because if you use the tap water you will notice a slightly different taste if you are not used to it. Beds were comfy and the fans in each room were an added bonus as it did get slightly warmer upstairs. It unfortunately rained a good chunk of our stay so the smart TV with Netflix, Hulu and cable were great for catching preseason football games and movies. Having access to the golf cart was wonderful as it is a steep hill down to the dock. We were able to catch a lot of small sunnies and a few decent size large mouth bass off the dock! Overall, we throughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely, updated and clean lake cabin.

Family Fishing Fun
Having made a late decision to rent a lake house, we took a chance on this property new to VRBO and (when we rented) having no reviews. In general, we were not disappointed and had a wonderful week making memories on beautiful Lake Melissa at this clean, comfortable, updated lake property. Specifically, we found the mattresses comfortable, the availability of lake toys generous and the grill AMAZING! (Pancakes, eggs and bacon oh yea!). Overall the kitchen is moderately equipped. DO bring water. We are new to this lake area so were surprised by the sulphur water, but perhaps that is common to the region. Bring a blow dryer and your own shampoo and shower and bath soap. The coffee maker is a traditional style (which we appreciated) with basket type filter. DO rent the boat. The dock is lovely, but there is no opportunity for swimming off the dock and only very minimal fishing. We rented the boat and had spectacular fishing and great fun on the lake. There is minimal lake view from the property although the owner has plans to address this so there is potential. There is no outside patio or deck, but chairs in the very large private yard. The golf carts are a necessity as the path to the beach is rather steep. Keep your eye on this property. There is great potential here.

Great Lake Getaway
Adorable house on a hill overlooking the lake. Had golf carts for driving down the hill to the dock and grassy area. Fire pit and large grill were perfect for evening entertainment. Walking distance to the cute flea market. Close to Detroit Lakes for shopping and restaurants.
