“The bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was fine. But the dust was thick on many surfaces - the top of the fridge, microwave, skirting boards, power points, venetian blinds, and doorway. Also the TV had no signal much of the time so I was appreciative of a pack of cards and 50 year old National Geographic magazines to pass the time.”

Room ticked all the boxes except there was something going on with wet area on carpet in front to bathroom door. Initially thought it was from bathroom but after 2 days realised there must be a pipe broken under the floor! Apart from that everything was prefect ”

“Host was very accommodating however the property description doesn't match reality. Cooking was via a shared barbecue, washing up needed to be done in the bathroom vanity and the restaurant was closed. Most meals required a 20 minute drive to Nairne...or slightly further to Mt Barker. It would be OK for an overnight stay or weekend if you wanted to travel around the Adelaide Hills. Longer stays are very difficult.”

“Incredibly relaxing stay! Bed was very comfortable (great for my bad back) fireplace in the Lounge Room with lovely outdoor bath was fantastic. I simply loved having a sauna inside the bathroom. When we arrived, we saw our little welcome pack with breakfast provisions for the first day and feed so we could feed the cows, goats and alpacas on the property. ”

“The views from this property are stunning. The weather was perfect, we were able to sit back and relax in front of the outdoor firepit, with a glass of wine. The neighbouring cows were very cute and friendly. This was a great way to enjoy my 50th birthday. ”

The property is in an excellent location, centrally located on the main road. Many restaurants and bars a short walk away. Laundry facilities on site. Secure parking. Highly recommended.”

“We enjoyed our four night stay at Ashton retreat. We found it a welcoming place to relax and enjoy the established extensive gardens around the retreat.The little touches made it special-a full fruit bowl, fresh milk , a variety of breakfast cereals, fresh coffees and a variety of teas etc. Kate and Andy were very welcoming - - thank you for the delicious homemade berry jam and fresh homegrown rhubarb. We are looking forward to returning in the near future.”
