“A large group of my family with multiple children stayed here for my son’s birthday trip to the Dunes. There was plenty of room for everyone. The surrounding property is lovely to go for a walk and explore. Lots of games and activities to keep the kids happy-they even helped feed the cows which they loved! A fairly close drive to the dunes (under 30 minutes). The host lives on the property next door and was incredibly helpful and responsive. ”

“Conveniently located for local fishing, hunting or sightseeing. Comfortable accommodations. Good communications with management. Would definitely stay here again. ”

“We were pleasantly surprised by the interior space—the pictures don’t do it justice. It is “out there,” probably 5 miles from Blanca, mostly over stone roads. There were no restaurants open in Blanca so eat in Fort Garland or Alamosa or plan to eat out of your cooler. A microwave and small fridge would be welcome additions, otherwise we were very pleased with the accommodation and Sue’s hospitality.”

“The owners are always quick to respond and helpful. The house has everything we needed and plenty of room to relax. We all enjoy the pool table and games. This was our second stay at the Hummingbird Hideaway. We really enjoyed both stays.”

“If you want to fish the Rio Costilla quality waters for more than a day trip you'll have to camp- or stay here. Its a 15 minute ride to fishing. Exceptionally beautiful area.”

“This was a quaint little cabin. It is pretty small but had all the amenities, even some bear spray. There are 4 beds for 8 people and one bathroom. Not much of a front or back porch. The master bed was memory foam and felt like a soap dish. Some of the windows do not have coverings. It is at least a 25 minute drive to the highway. Then an hour in either direction for a town. So it is isolated. Overall it was an ok stay.”

“Cabin was perfect for us. Very private. Beautiful property! Listening to the wind blow through the trees was just what we needed; so relaxing and serene. Heard elk calling at night! There were deer every morning and evening in the front and back yard! Everything was perfect. ”
