Comfortable House - even in winter
House feels very new and clean. Beds very comfortable. Kitchen well stocked, especially given its small size.Folks should be aware that one bedroom is only accessible thru another room. It worked out fine, but there was some teen angst about it initially.

Small after the holiday gathering
Property was as described and contact with owner was prompt. No issues with entry, kitchen appliances, hot tub, heating, etc. Everything was in working order. We enjoyed playing games, doing puzzles, hot rubbing and watching the Lions win. Overall a great family experience.

Winter getaway
Chose to stay here for a little mini getaway over new years with the family. The hot tub and pool table were the selling points since we wouldn’t be able to spend much time outdoors. Property was as described with nice updates throughout. Dual zone. Eat temp controls are nice for keeping each floor comfortable The couches in the living room were comfy and my son loved how they reclined.

Fun Wintertime Getaway
My friends and I stayed here for a pre-holiday weekend trip. The house and surrounding property were peaceful and the views were stunning. The hot tub and pool table were very nice amenities. First-rate accomodations. Highly recommended!

Family getaway
The property had everything we needed for having a family get away! The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need for cooking, the Blackstone was perfect! The beds were comfortable and plenty of space for us all! We had a great time playing pool! The only thing we couldn’t do was get on the lake as the water level is down too far and didn’t reach the dock but the view was spectacular with the fall colors. We were able to have a bonfire and the hot tub was clean and Hot! Overall a fantastic place.

Our October Shelp Lake Stay
We enjoyed our stay at this nice residence on Shelp Lake. Cleanliness if highly considered with our brother golf group and this home certainly met that criteria. There was ample room for our needs, and the remote aspect of the property is refreshing. A few notes: the entry system on the front door is sun drenched in the afternoon, and as such, was rendered inoperable. A call to the host solved that situation nicely with a remote "unlocking". Perhaps a cover over the entry system would eliminate that first world issue. Having a few cooking spices, etc. on hand would be useful as most places we stay for our trips do offer those nice considerations. Lastly, and not a major fault, is glassware for beverages, versus plastic glasses would offer a nice touch. The new grill is amazing to cook with, as it was nice and clean prior to use, and we took good care of it after use. Overall, a delightful property that we will rent again on our next adventure to the Delton, Michigan area. Thank you

Nice location, poor maintenance
The location was nice, but the house needs a serious deep, deep clean; cobwebs in the corners , dead bugs in the corners. A mouse paid a visit. The front door is loose in its frame. Access to the lake was limited. Lake equipment was covered in weeds and brush. I wish I had read the reviews prior to booking for what we paid. It would’ve been nice to have a clean homefacilities.

Spacious, comfortable and peaceful
Extremely peaceful setting! Loved being out on the deck and listening to the birds and watching the swan family swimming around the lake. Very comfortable home with lots of space for everyone. Loved the cooktop grill and hot tub, very nice additions! The kitchen had everything we needed. There were ants, so keep your food cleaned up and off the floor. I'm sure this is a seasonal challenge and was not to big of an issue. Also, watch out for the step ups into the bathroom and bedroom in the basement, we aren't used to having those, so we kept tripping. Overall highly recommend if you are looking to relax and really enjoy a peaceful experience with your family. Close to the Bay Pointe Inn Bar & Grille which is a delicious restaurant with an amazing view, if you do not feel like cooking!

Relaxing, Clean Space for Group Getaway
We stayed at this location for a family gathering - the space was up to date and clean, and the view of the lake was gorgeous. It was a very relaxing space for our hangout! Our only suggestion to the property manager would be to add a few items in the home. For example, a small basket of toilitries (shampoo, body wash, etc.) in addition to small items in the kitchen (measuring cups, salt/pepper, aluminum foil or ziploc bags). We are a pretty well versed family when it comes to group travel, and can usually depend on a rental for these items - and were a bit disappointed when we had to run out to the store, again. If anything, I think it would add a nice touch, some of those additional comforts of home for future renters.

Deck is unsafe!
There were a couple of things that need attention. The railing on the back deck needs to be repaired or replace it is very unstable and the left corner of the deck sinks if you stand on it! The door to the garage doesn’t shut all the way. There were also ants!!

quiet country home
This home had enough room for 9 of us 3 generations. The fire pit and jacuzzi as well as pool table were a hit. The flat top grill outside was added bonus instead of an actual grill. The dock was a challenge as lake was down and too many lily pads blocking the way, but we were able to navigate thru to get out to the lake and paddle to the other side.. Very quiet and lovely to see the stars while enjoying the fire. thanks for letting us stay

The house was very nice inside, well stocked with kitchen needs and other supplies, and very clean. The owners were quick to respond to questions and easy to work with. That being said, the outside was a big disappointment as it relates to the lake. Our primary interest in booking the rental was the convenience of fishing off the private lake and enjoying some kayaking. The pictures listed on VRBO showed a beautiful lake and available kayaks for use. The listing emphasized the convenience of the house for fishing, being ideal. However, when we arrived the lily pads were so overgrown in the water along with weeds that you could not access the lake from the house. There was no safe way to do so, and you could not even drag the kayaks. I had asked certain fishing questions after I booked the rental. My husband and son were especially disappointed we could not fish on the lake, it made the view from the large balcony depressing as you could see others in their boats out on the water. We contacted the owners and shared pictures from the same angles as were shown in the VRBO listing. The said they were unaware of the situation. We informed them we would be leaving in the morning, and they credited us for half of our reservation cost. Pictures should be updated and big changes to properties should be communicated to renters to avoid having vacation experiences be ruined.

Relaxation With a Great View
Beautiful setting with lots of room to enjoy just relaxing or outdoor activities. Great little fishing lake and nice for just putting the kayak in the water and going around the lake. Very quiet and peaceful. Loved all the waterfowl and the beaver family. The house had everything we needed and was a nice place for a family get together.

I really wanted to love this property...
We spent 5 nights for our family vacation. Upon arrival, the door was unlocked and some of the beds weren't made yet. We didn't mind. When the cleaners stopped by to finish up the bed, we told her it was all good. She dropped off some paper towel later in the week which was much appreciated. Full disclosure: we did not reach out to the host/manager during our stay for the following issues. We fixed most of them ourselves and still had a decent time. The coffee maker was on the fritz. The single serve option resulted in hot coffee grounds being shot out the front of the machine. Brewing a whole pot takes about 30 mins. The oven and stove do not get hot enough to properly cook/bake. My 2 year old was stung by a yellow jacket on the deck, and after some searching, we found nests in almost all the recessed lights around the home. We found some spray and took care of the ones we saw. There is a section of the yard that is so overgrown, it's hard to get a good view of the lake. The kayaks were covered in spiders and not in good condition (plus tons of lily pads to get through, but this was mentioned in the description), so we did not use them. There was tons of wildlife! We saw deer every day, as well as turtles, groundhogs, ducks, geese, etc. The only downside to this is all the goose poop in the yard, on the sidewalk, and all over the drive way. All in all, it was a decent trip. Just saying a couple days of clean up and projects would make this place 5/5.

Nature and Wildlife Galore
We enjoyed our time viewing the lake and all the wildlife on and near the lake -deer, birds, rabbits, swans, sandhill cranes. Very relaxing spot. Back deck so peaceful. Kitchen very well stocked. Host very responsive.

Great place to stay!
We enjoyed everything about this property and everything was exactly as described! We saw all kinds of wildlife including about a dozen different types of birds. The property sits on a road that is walkable and scenic, and the home has great views of the lake, which is perfect for kayaking. Overall, an enjoyable vacation away from home!

Great house, poor dispute resolution
House/property is great. Only negative experience was that the only 2 BBQ gas tanks were empty. We discovered this when preparing a large late Saturday evening dinner. Unfortunately too late to wait for owner to supply a full tank. Cooking the large dinner inside was a major inconvenience. I would have liked the empty tank situation to have been addressed with other options besides waiting for delivery of a full tank.

Secluded stay
We enjoyed our stay with our family. There was room for everyone. The downstairs with the pool table and hot tub right outside the door was a hit. We wished there was more comfortable seating downstairs so everyone could be together.
