Our stay was fantastic!!! The grandkids had such a wonderful time with all the kid activities both inside and out. Grandpa's Place is so beautiful and accommodating. Highly recommend Grandpa's Place. Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable.

This home is spectacular! Everything was in great condition, well stocked, and ready to enjoy. We had a large group of family with a bunch of little kids- they lived in the paddle boat and canoe! Would definitely stay there again!

Perfect Vacation Home for My Family

The house, the view, the location was perfect for our family vacation this year. The house was fairly close to all the attractions we wanted to visit and still gave us a sense of being secluded. The family enjoyed fishing and swimming in the pond and watching the wildlife in the area. The house was set up perfectly and plenty of room for everyone. Nice touch with the piano -- my sons, who took lessons when they were young, played for the family the first night we arrived. Great way to start the vacation. Thank you for having such a beautiful home, in a beautiful location for my family to enjoy.

Amazing House, Has Everything

The home was perfect for the three generations of our family visiting the Custer area. It had everything from a high chair, pack & play, and LOADS of toys to a Blackstone, Grill, and bedrooms for accommodate everyone. I highly recommend this house and its likely the best home I've ever stayed at.

Delightful family stay

Our family had a wonderful and restful time in S Dakota’s Black Hills in large part to our time at this wonderful, well cared for home with beautiful property. The icing on the cake was the kindness shared by our hosts. We could not ask for more. I would love to return with our family!

Gathering in the Hills

We enjoyed an energetic multigenerational gathering to honor several birthdays, and introduce some of the family to their heritage in the Black Hills. Grandpa's Place offered a beautiful relaxing location for visiting, and a base for exploration.

Heaven in the Hills

This cabin is absolutely gorgeous! Our grand babies had a ball fishing in the pond, roasting marshmallows and just exploring everything they could find! We woke up to deer in the field and went to sleep to coyotes howling. Grandpa’s Cabin will definitely be our home in the hills whenever we come to visit!!

Stay in Custer

Stayed here for a week with my wife’s family. Location and house were great and perfect for our needs. Nice big kitchen for cooking family meals. Great star gazing on the deck. Hosts very easy to communicate with should you need anything. Will definitely be staying again!

Cousins retreat (5 of us over 70)

This property is beautiful, comfortable & clean! Pictures of home and property are accurately detailed. The views are amaising....sit back on the (wrapped around) deck and you might see deer roaming the pasture. Do a little fishing at the pond or, hike around the property. It is remote but worth the drive (maintained dirt road). Home owner is great to work with. I would book this property again and recommend it to anyone.

Peaceful getaway

Remote Retreat

Grandpa’s Place is a lovely place to stay, far from the noise and in the middle of beautiful wilderness. I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Mount Rushmore!

Giant log cabin in the hills

Can’t say enough good things

Fantastic location. Close to all the major attractions. Beautiful setting in the woods with a picturesque meadow out back. The grandkids LOVED fishing on the pond. Excellent communication with host. House set up was perfect for large family. Probably our best VRBO house ever.

Family vacation

Great cabin, well stocked with everything you could need. Central location to most black hills activities. Only issue I can think of is the Wifi was rather slow, but just go outside and fish instead. Would love to stay again in the future.

This property was just what we all needed to unwind and relax

We had a lot of fun at the pond with the canoe, paddle boat and fishing. Distance to Mt Rushmore and Custer was close enough and yet far enough away not to deal with the touristy elements that we prefer to avoid. Thank you!
