This was a delayed 25th Anniversary trip for my husband and I. We are avid kayakers and live in the NGA mtns, near a lake we often kayak.
1. This cottage (a duplex that feels ultra private), was clean, cozy, and comfortable! The king bed is comfy and the pillows are fabulous. The shower has fantastic pressure and the water gets plenty hot enough. We didn’t cook much, still kitchen had everything we needed. The host left us two bottles of cold water, which was appreciated since it was hot when we arrived. Great AC, and cozy living area for evenings just watching TV.
2. The kayak launch was EVERYTHING! So easy to get in and out, we kayaked every day. The kayaks are good quality and track well in the bay (even if it’s choppy water). We didn’t use the fire pit due to afternoon & evening rain but the backyard is adorable and fun!
3. The area and proximity to the bay was ideal! It’s a SHORT paddle to the mouth of the canal and the bay. If I had to guess, it’s less than 3/10th of a mile. We explored a lot. We saw a little gator, a bazillion jumping mullet, a big alligator garr, sheepshead fish, tons of birds (idk about birds but at least 15 different species), and we saw manatees. One in the same canal, and three or four from a distance and on our last day, two right under the kayaks in the bay.
You can paddle all the way to Three Sisters (which we fully recommend) in great weather it will take about 35 minutes - it was windy for us so it took 45.
Vicki is a fantastic host!
