Tina, the host, was very informative and quick to respond. The house was nicely decorated and full of amenities. We appreciated the air conditioning, as we visited when outside temps were in the high 90s, and the AC allowed our dogs to stay comfortable and safe while we enjoyed the lake to cool down. There is also a nice dog park within walk distance.
A couple things to note that we were surprised by: the master bedroom is located on the bottom floor, and the only access is through the indoor hot tub room. It’s a narrow space with steep steps and the hot tub does not have a proper lid for safety (just a plastic sheet over it) so if you have dogs or smaller children who might come to your room at night like we do, it is not a safe option to sleep in the master room. For this reason, we put our teen boys in that space and kept the doors closed to the dogs at all times. It also makes the lower level smell intensely of chlorine.
Also, the posting lists a blue fold out couch in that room, but when we arrived the couch was on the road with the trash cans, and then in a neighbor’s truck, and eventually gone. Maybe the host has replaced it now, but we weren’t informed that we would have one less bed before arrival.
Apparently GE schedules power outages in the area regularly. We woke one morning to no power, and a neighbor told us it was a planned outage from 7am-4pm. Our host wasn’t aware of it and didn’t inform us. The house has a small generator for these instances, so we were able to power the window AC unit for our dogs, but we could not cook anything or take warm showers. Had we been informed prior, we could have planned for the outage. The host offered an apology for the inconvenience…..
Overall we had a lovely visit in Crestline with local friends. The lake is so much fun for the kids and the quirky little town is adorable. There is a huge supermarket with all your needs, and a handful of little restaurants. Lake Arrowhead is a short distance as well. We look forward to returning annually to visit friends!
