Our stay at “The House on the Hill” was perfect for a long, leisurely weekend. Plenty of historic (circa 1800!) charm, but beautifully renovated, designed, and well-appointed with all the modern conveniences — special shoutout to the shower!
Downtown Coxsackie is just a short walk. It’s a quaint and quintessential Catskills river town — bookstore/cafe, local general store, bar with live music, the new Wire events center and hotel, and even self-service kayak rentals (we didn’t get to take them out, but we can’t wait to come back). Coxsackie is just a hop-skip-jump from neighboring Catskill, Hunter Mountain, and Hudson, but a really welcome retreat from the crowds you’ll find there.
We were the first guests, and the owners were lovely and provided great recommendations for our stay. There was plenty of space for us to spread out, cook, play games, and watch the ships on the river from the backyard. We are delighted to give them a 5++++ star review for a wonderful weekend in our new favorite upstate town!
