We chose this property because it was pretty close to the Omni for a conference, and because the whole family came, it made more sense for us to stay in a house. It looks nice in pictures, so we decided to take the risk. It was nice to have a kitchen, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms for the three of us, but I would rather have stayed in a fresh, clean hotel room. Once the scent of cleaning supplies wore off, there was a bad smell throughout the house. There were various flies and bugs, and a constant leak in the ceiling that had clearly been there for quite some time.
We provided a long list of maintenance issues to property management after we left that I won’t go into detail about here. We just didn’t want to deal with maintenance people in and out of the house making repairs for our short stay, so we dealt with them. In my opinion, they all should have been addressed before our stay, it was nothing that happened during.
We’ve traveled a lot, and have noticed a trend of half-hearted renovations with cheap furnishings just good enough for pictures, and the reality doesn’t hold up. Sadly, not sure how much longer we will choose short-term rental homes over hotels.
