The house looks cute from the road. It’s on a curve and has 1 tiny parking space. Upon first walking into this place, it smells like dog. My wife noticed a dog crate under the master bed. As a former dog owner, it’s nearly impossible to get dog smell out of furniture and rugs. More dog stuff in the closet.
After booking, I realized this property is managed by a property mgmt company and not a Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO). There are extra hoops you have to go through bc of this. They basically pay VRBO to list it.
Smoke detector was missing from the kitchen.
The bed (King) was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. It’s noisy and not comfortable at all. When staying in a VRBO, you’d expect beds that are at least on par with a decent hotel. The linens and towels were nice. The hot water was nice and hot.
This is Columbia, so I expected palmetto bugs outside but not inside. We found stink bugs and palmetto bugs inside the kitchen and near the front door where there’s a big gap in the door frame. The back yard was overgrown and not somewhere we wanted to hang out. Maybe there’s a fence? We saw a partial fence but didn’t inspect it. If I had a dog I would be afraid of leaving them back there unattended.
I lived in several homes during my college years in Columbia and I chose this home bc of the neighborhood. The neighborhood is great. This house might meet your expectations if your expectations are very low. Next time I’ll stay somewhere else.
