We loved our stay here! This is a very private and secluded location at about 8600'. Other houses in the area are barely visible. While we had cloudy skies and a full moon during our visit, this appears to be an excellent dark-sky location for stargazing and finding the Milky Way. The views are astounding from the porch that wraps around the first floor, and from the deck off the corner of the 2nd floor. Property is very clean and well-kept, stocked with plenty of towels and a few toiletries. Coffee maker and K-cup machine both available, along with practically everything non-food needed in the kitchen (cups, mugs, plates, knives, utensils, etc). We saw plenty of deer and turkeys around, plus heard foxes at night. It was rare to hear any man-made noise other than the occasional passing jet (and those weren't loud at all). We loved having a peaceful home to come back to after spending the day sightseeing.
Internet supported streaming services, around 20 Mbps up/down. Verizon service was 1 bar at best, but call/text worked fine through WiFi.
There are two box fans available, though we didn't find the second one until the last day. While it cools down at night, we had practically no breeze after dark and the fans were needed to pull in the outside air.
Road from Teller County Road 11 to the house is gravel but well-maintained, with some rocks up to fist sized in the last 1/2 mi. Summer showers seem to drain off quite well and we found very little mud afterwards. Cars with normal ground clearance should be fine (we had an AWD SUV, so no direct experience).
Location is very convenient to Cripple Creek, Pikes Peak, and Royal Gorge. We typically stopped in Woodland Park as we were passing through to get groceries and other necessities. There is a gas station and small store a short distance from the start of the gravel road, but we didn't have need of it.
If you're vacationing in the Colorado Springs area, be sure to consider this property for your stay! We're already thinking about when we're coming back.
