We were really disappointed in our stay here. Here's the positive: it's in a great location and it's spacious. On the other hand, the communication with the host is TERRIBLE...that is, there was NO communication with them other than the pre-written directions to check in and the follow up "thanks for staying with us".
I messaged the host a day before our arrival AND the day of our arrival to ask about bag storage because we were arriving early on check in day. NO RESPONSE. We ended up communicating with the cleaning crew via translator to figure out if everything was all set with the room. When we entered, there was a bag of garbage on the steps going in that was never picked up (we ended up bringing it to a trash can nearby after day two). We went to Whole Foods the day we arrived and bought cheese and crackers, fruit, yogurts, drinks etc and put them all away only to realize the next morning the the fridge was not running at all. It was warm inside and we had to discard all of our perishable foods. We sent a message about that as well with NO RESPONSE.
The apartment appearance? Clean but not well cared for (paint peeling, stucco crumbling around tub, etc) One of our towels was dirty with dark, crusty stains on it (yuck); half of the light bulbs are out etc - the apartment just doesn't seem well cared for. It's a great location and spacious, but they need to pay attention to the little details and communication. So many better places to stay in Chicago.
