“The location is first-class, apparently in the 'middle of nowhere', yet within a short journey of all the usual facilities. It's great for Beamish and the Tanfield Railway, which are very close by and not too far from Locomotion at Shildon. I ventured as far as the South Tynedale Railway, and enjoyable drive over the moors. The accommodation is to a very high standard and unlike B&B has the advantage of coming and going as you please. “Lovely property but needs a little TLC. For instance curtain in lounge half hanging off, no lock for front bathroom door, loads of lightbulbs not working, video game not working holes in wall in bathroom and one of the bedrooms. Having said this the beds were comfortable, lots of space for 10 people and hot tub a great bonus. Nothing to spoil the holiday but just a few niggles.”

“Finchale is such a beautiful place, next to the priory ruins in a bend of the river Wear - amazing views across the river, or from the far bank to the priory.
