A perfect home base
Gumbo Limbo is the perfect home base for your stay on Caye Caulker. It's located walking distance to anywhere you wanna go, but is far enough away from the main drag to enjoy some peace and quiet. Ben is a very welcoming host, who will offer good recommendations and small talk, but gives you lots of space and quiet to enjoy your stay. The AC works great, which is a huge benefit in the heat and humidity, the bed is comfortable, and the place generally had nice simple vibes. Finally, the pooches are incredibly friendly and love to make new friends, which as a dog person really adds a lot to the whole stay. From nice bikes to new split unit ACs to a direct path to the ocean, it's clear Ben and Aria put a lot of energy into keeping their place updated and accommodating to their guests. Highly recommend Gumbo Limbo, it's everything you need, nothing you don't, all wrapped up in a cute little plot with sweet cabanas, nice plants, and outdoor lounging just steps from the ocean.

We enjoyed our stay at Gumbo Limbo very much. It was the quiet,peaceful setting that we were looking for. All of the amenities we required were a short bike ride or walk away. We used the free bikes extensively, and enjoyed riding around the small cay. Our only comment would be that the bikes weren't in the best condition, one of them had the chain come off one evening when were coming home, but we were able to fix it and continue. Ben and Aria, as well as Tito and Shadow were fantastic hosts!

Paradise
This was a wonderful property where you really "Go Slow". Booking was easy, there was clear communication and Flor was there to greet us when we arrived. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing week. We would recommend this property to anyone.

Great place to go slow
We enjoyed our stay at the gumbo limbo property and would return! Everything is as it is listed. Requested an additional blanket and the host provided this upon arrival. Just far enough to be away from main road, but a quick bike ride to anything on the island. Saw humming birds in the morning and enjoyed quick ocean access.

What a wonderful compound; clean, access to bikes, hammocks and chairs to enjoy the sun, a bar avaliable; easy walk to the ocean for swimming or around the path to explore the island. Bikes were available which made getting around the island easier than we had anticipated. Our hosts were very friendly and responsive and gave clear instructions and resources to guide our stay. Would love to come back to caye caulker and stay here again

Better than Expected
Very seamless process checking in and getting set up. 5 minute walk from the airport along the beach which was perfect (longer by road). Ben was great, on the property when we needed him. TV in the room with a fire stick, a little tikki bar on the small property and fully stocked with a pay as you go honor system. Four different units on the property, hardly saw the others but an open bbq area to all hang or cook your own dinner. General seating area, hammocks, bikes for everyone. Made coffee every morning with the French Press which was awesome. Bathroom very functional, great shower and everything we needed. Slightly out of the busy-ness in Caye Caulker but still right in it. Bikes on the property to use have you within a 1 minute commute of anything. Lovely place!

This place is a gem!
My husband and I stayed here for three days in November. As soon as we checked in we wished we had booked it for longer. Every single thing about the place was perfect. The pictures posted on VRBO somehow don't capture just how lovely it is. The owners Ben and Aria are delightful and their two dogs, Shadow and Tito are the very best. When we make a return visit to Caye Caulker we will absolutely choose the Gumbo Limbo again!

We loved Gumbo Limbo, It was just perfect for us. What a wonderful little island and Gumbo was the perfect place to stay for us ! We got to experience Belize independence day ! Tito and Shadow were always there to greet us when we came home !

Peaceful Retreat
Absolutely everything I imagined this property and trip would be. Hosts Ben and Aria were very kind and attentive towards anything I was lacking while there. Love the Art vibes on the property and all the colors surrounding my little cabana. Had plenty of bikes available to choose from to ride around the island enjoying the scenes. I’ll be back with my daughter’s.

Relaxing Cabana
This property was wonderful! Looked just like the pics, clean and comfortable. I went by myself just to relax and eat great food and would book this place again if returning. It is further from center and the split but bikes available so no problem at all. Quiet and peaceful, loved the dogs. Sunrises beautiful! I would love to book all 3 places with my family in the future since a larger cabana is not available. Would recommend to others. Chris

Spacious cabana in a quiet part of the island.
Very nice cabana in a quiet part of the island. It is away from the bars and noise but only a couple of minute walk to restaurants. Just a few hundred feet from the ocean. Nice helpful hosts and a lovely cabana.

Wonderful In Every Way! Location, Hosts, Clean, Convenient, Safe
My best friend and I, both 50-year-old women, stayed at Gumbo Limbo for one week and couldn't have been happier. The hosts were helpful and friendly but didn't hover, the grounds were inviting, comfortable, clean, and quiet. Our cabana was above and beyond what we expected...plenty of natural light, very clean, decorated with Aria's personal artwork, well-stocked, hot shower, and plenty of space. We very much enjoyed our morning porch coffee waiting for our visit from Tito & Shadow, the resident dogs. The location was very convenient to all the island has to offer (South & North). Ben referred us to Carlos for a full day snorkeling trip worth every minute and dime. DO IT!!! We especially loved the ceviche, plantains and sunsets from The Pelican Sunset Bar, smoothies (the ginger one and passion fruit to die for!!!) & breakfast from Sunrise Delights and had a wonderfully prepared Italian meal in upscale abience with live music at Il Pellicano Cucine Italian. Being dog rescuers in the US, we brought donations of flea/tick/heartworm medication for the island Humane Society. Just so happens Ben & Aria volunteer at Caye Caulker's Humane Society. So, you're in good hands at Gumbo Limbo with owners that also give back to their community.

Caye Caulker is amazing. Great food, tantalizing snorkelling and incredible weather! We are definitely returning! We had tons of fun! If you don’t want the hustle and bustle of San Pedro this is the place to be!
