No era lo que esperábamos
Soy colombiana y viajé con un grupo de 5 amigas quienes por primera vez iban a Colombia. Esperábamos un apartamento que en las fotos se veía muy nuevo, con una terraza con una mesa grande y agradable, y con una persona que nos ayudara con la comida típica costeña de desayuno. Lo que encontramos fue muy diferente. El apartamento está dotado pero no se ve cómo en las fotos, está mucho más desgastado. La terraza tiene únicamente un par de cojines (no está la mesa grande de más fotos) y está llena de matas (creemos haber visto un roedor). El edificio es un edificio muy viejo en el cual en el primer piso hay agencias de viajes y comercio (lo que puede causar inseguridad por el flujo de personas) y está ubicado a unos pasos de dos de los sitios de fiesta de la ciudad vieja, por lo cual si el plan no es estar de fiesta 24/7 no van a poder dormir sino hasta las 3 am que apaguen la música estos sitios. La señora que nos ayudó con el aseo y el desayuno es la definición de over promising y underperforming. La limpieza fue regular, le pedimos más de un día que llegara temprano a hacernos desayuno pues salíamos a alguna isla en la mañana y no llegaba según lo acordado. En general, la experiencia que buscaba tener como host en Colombia no fue lo que esperaba con el apartamento.

Apartamento perfecto para disfrutar al máximo Cartagena de Indias, muy cerca a todo los puntos de interés como restaurantes, discos, supermercados etc Clarita la señora encargada muy amable y nos ayudó en todo lo que necesitamos, María Cristina la señora que nos cocino los manjares propios de la cocina Cartagenera amable y atenta, mil gracias a todas esas lindas personas que hicieron que nuestra estadía fuera inolvidable y casi perfecta. No doy las 5 estrellas por que respecto al apartamento, en ninguna parte se dice que no es apto para adultos mayores o para personas con discapacidad y nosotros teníamos en el grupo 2 adultos mayores y una niña con discapacidad a las que les costó mucho la subida y la bajada,es importante agregar esto en la descripción del apto para no causar incomodidad y hacerle la estadía placentera a todas las personas por lo demás es muy recomendado ..Mil gracias ..!!!

The building is indeed centrally location in the walled city. The service is excellent: Clara, the administrator, was there late at night to receive us and hand the keys, and Indira, the maid, pleased our requests and even went to the market to get groceries for breakfasts. Considering that it takes 57 steep steps to get to the apartment in the third floor, Clara had someone to help us bring the suitcases up and down. However, its priviledged location becomes its only weakness: the noise. We were there for New Year's Eve, which is by definition noisy. It is surrounded by rooftop lounges. The windows in the apartment provide no noise reduction. The only way we could sleep was with ear plugs. Additionally, while the apartment description states it sleeps 8, in the larger room there was a queen bed and an additonial twin bunk bed. We managed to accomodate the younger members of the family in the available beds, nonetheless. I strongly recommend this place to young groups who want to visit Cartagena to party.

Amazing roof top in the heart of Cartagena‘s bustling historical centre. You can look down onto terraces of several bars that play music until 2AM. Stylish living area and nice master bedroom on the top floor. However, the quality of the other rooms is quite poor as very small and no real window in one of them.

Great stay
We had a great stay, huge property, wonderful location. Only two things are that you are so close to the action that the local club music can be loud all night and lastly there was almoat no hot water (its 90 outside so we didnt mind it). I will definitely stay here again.

Loved it!
This property was perfect for my group (25-30 year olds). Stairs weren't an issue, the noise wasn't an issue, but both could be for some people. Communication was perfectly fine even with the language barrier. There was more than enough hot water in the home. Cleaning lady was amazing, she even folded everyone's clothes. Overall I would recommend this place if you are trying to stay in Centro and dont care about the noise.

Beautiful apartment, prime location
The apartment is beautiful and the location is right in the middle of Cartagena. The noise from the neighbors though is pretty extreme. There are three outdoor bars next door, music is very loud and doesn’t stop until late at night. Don’t expect to use the beautiful roof terrace after 9pm, it’s impossible to talk. Inside is a little better, but not much. Earplugs are provided and you won’t be able to sleep without them. This would be a five star apartment anywhere else, but the extremely loud music make it difficult to enjoy the place…

Very Loud at night!
The property is very nice, very clean and good service from the housekeeper. The only problem is that is about 20 feet from the hottest night club in Cartagena. The loud music from the rooftop bar goes until 2:30 in the morning. We were 6 adults, 4 of us in our 60s. To say the least, we wanted a good nights sleep after enjoying the sights, and especially the food, of Cartagena. This would be a perfect spot if you are into partying. Nevertheless, the location is outstanding!

Apt was beautiful & attendants were priceless!
The apartment was great and the rooftop was WOW! My husband and I stayed there with our 4 year old and the location was perfect because it was right in the center of town so it was super convenient. We visited Colombia to attend a wedding and it turns out that the church was literally around the corner and 2 blocks from us and the wedding reception was directly across the street from us. It was a very happy and convenient coincidence. All other comments in the reviews were accurate. It is in the center of everything so it is very loud. The clubs out there act like they’re all competing on who can have the loudest music and they blast their music until 1 or 3 am in the morning depending on if it’s a weekday or weekend. There are no noise restrictions in Colombia apparently so the nights there are VERY LOUD. Thankfully, the owner provided ear plugs. You WILL need them so that was a nice touch. There is also no elevator, but it’s only 3 flights of stairs so if you don’t have health issues and not a lot of luggage, you should be fine. We only had our carry-ons and handbags. The biggest reason for my 5-star review aside from the prime location, and pretty apt is the staff. What a great staff! The lady comes by every day to clean and she makes breakfast for you if you want. It’s included in the price of your stay so all you have to pay for is the groceries, plus she shows you the receipt to show how much was spent. They really went out of their way to make us feel at home. One of the gentlemen that works in the building even walked me to the ATM so that I wouldn’t walk alone and get lost. Another staff member showed us how to use the tv remote. They suggested places to visit. They were just the greatest group of people and i am so thankful they were there!

I don’t like writing negative reviews but…
Let me just start off by saying this, I don’t ever want to write anything negative. The property was nice and we had a great rooftop, but be prepared to walk up 50 winding stairs with your luggage. Also if you want peace and quiet this place is not for you. It is surrounded by all the bars and clubs so you hear their music blasting until 3am. The streets below are VERY LOUD. We are all in our 30s so the noise didn’t bother us a ton but it was hard to fall asleep. We enjoyed the rooftop the most. Even though part of the lights were out so it was hard to see at night. The lady who comes every day to do towels, clean, etc would come and be there for 2 plus hours cooking herself meals, making coffee and making herself right at home by turning on the TV. Meanwhile our group would be all there, it was very awkward. Not to mention our showers were all freezing cold. This is a nice place but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Great Home in the Perfect Location
This home was beautiful even better than described in the listing, and was also in the perfect location! The owner was prompt in his responses and was more than willing to help out however he could. The rooms were plenty spacious and beds were comfortable and the home was cooled down nicely by all the AC units and ceiling fans. The view from the rooftop was really nice and you can see into two or three bars from there. The upstairs master bedroom had plenty of space and was nice to wake up and just walk right out to the rooftop. The only thing to be aware of are the steps you need to take to get to the home. If you don't do well with a lot of steps you may want to reconsider. Not only are there a lot they also do a little swirl thing too where some of the steps are more narrow. Be honest this would be more of a disclaimer just to make others aware. But no mistaking it, I would 1000% stay here again if I were to come back to Cartagena, with no hesitation!

Location!
Beautiful property right in the middle of all the bars, clubs and restaurants. Ive visited Cartagena many times and this is by far the best location. Rooftop is very large and the views are incredible. Nice big master bedroom. It is very loud but it didn't bother us at all. Property is clean and in good condition. There is a rental company right on the second level that can book excursions. Housekeeper will cook if you buy the groceries. Great stay!!

Beautiful property - better suited for vacation vs remote work!
Pre-arrival communication was excellent and efficient with Herve. We were also 24 hours delayed and the on-the-ground team were very flexible and accommodating over check in, which was super easy. Clara and Ms. Luz only really speak Spanish, although Goggle Translate combined with Whatsapp worked fine! The property was exceptionally clean. The bedrooms are all spaced out and have en-suite which makes for great privacy when travelling with friends / several couples. Decent sized living area and table for 6-8 + an ENORMOUS terrace with those stunning views so plenty of communal space. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment and there are 2-3 basic mini markets within a block for supplies. Wi-Fi was patchy and worked well on one side of the communal area and in one bedroom (it was good enough for 2 of us to be on zoom calls simultaneously – it dropped occasionally but this was probably to do with the overall internet in Cartegena versus the set up in the apartment); wi-fi signal struggled elsewhere in the apartment. The location of the apartment is in the real “party ally” of Cartagena and there are two rooftop bars within spitting distance of the main floor of the apartment. So the noise was real and lasted until 3am. In total fairness, we knew this before we booked . . .it proved a challenge only because we were trying to remote work (we took a gamble!). In hindsight therefore, probably not the best property for remote work . . .but if it’s vacation you’re after and want to be in the middle of the action, this property is perfect and makes a refreshingly contemporary alternative to many of the other options in the walled city. Thanks to Herve, Clara and Ms. Luz for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable!

Great apartment.
Amazing location, that is the biggest plus. Apartment comes with a sweet housekeeper (Luz) who will clean everyday and cook if you'd like. It's not a super fancy place, but is great for a small group. 3 flights of stairs, no elevator. It is VERY loud in the morning. If you want a quiet stay, definitely stay in a nice hotel. The rooftop has a great view, no pool/hot tub. Overall, very pleasant stay.

Awesome Stay in Cartagena
We had a wonderful stay in Cartagena. Herve was responsive in every need and followed up accordingly. The apartment was as advertised and centrally located in the old city. The biggest positive hands down in the duplex is Doña Luz! She is amazing person with integrity and trust. ! She made breakfast for us every morning, helped out with laundry and our daily needs and kept the place in tip top shape. Her handmade arepas are to die for. Truly made our vacation reach another level. There are a couple opportunities with the rental: Wifi was challenging to deal with, slow moving between rooms and floors. Not sure if its due to the old structure of the building or the sheer amount of people visiting Cartagena. In addition, noise at night was extremely loud due to the two clubs directly adjacent to the property and nightlife. The music starts around 6pm and finishes at 3am. We planned ahead and brought earplugs to sleep. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return in the future.

I 100% enjoyed my stay at this property. From the communication to the cleanliness. This property is located in the heart of Cartagena with many restaurants and bars. There are two discos directly across the way with music playing until 2-3am, however, it did not bother us at all. We had an amazing time. Luz was so sweet and cooked us a delicious breakfast. Be mindful that there are a lot of steps to enter the property (not handicap friendly), however, we enjoyed the entire stays and views. I will return and stay here again soon.

In The Heart of The Walled City
The property is beautiful and the location is central to everything. The rooftop is amazing. It was kept very clean and everything worked properly. We had no complaints with the property. Understand, however, that it is very close to two discos and the music the extremely loud until 2 am. But that is not the fault of the owner or the property. It’s just what you get if you stay in the middle of town. Another huge bonus was that there is a clinic in the building where you can get a covid test, which we needed to return to the United States. I must say that the property itself is perfect and I’d stay there again.

Excellent place
I really enjoyed staying at this property. I couldn't have asked for a better location. As some have already stated, the wear and tear is present, but the penthouse is still marvelous. My only issue was the air conditioning in the huge master bedroom. I think it's too small for the size of the room. A bigger unit or adding a second unit would be great. Everything else was great. I will Definitely be staying there again whenever I return to cartagena. The maid was wonderful as well. She kept the place very clean for us and she was very nice.

Great place to stay but proceed with caution
Overall, Herve’s place was amazing. The photos align with what it looks like in person, the view from the rooftop is incredible, and the location is central to a lot of main attractions. It is in the heart of the nightlife scene so it is very loud at night, but we’re from NYC so it didn’t bother us. Herve’s communication was great and he was accommodating and allowed us to have an early check in. Now for the only bad part that I would be remissed not to mention. During our stay, I had $200 usd worth of pesos stolen from my room and my friend had $100 usd stolen from her room. Both of our money were tucked away in the room. The maid was the only one with access to the flat. I contacted Herve to make him aware of it, he said they never had this issue before and will install a lock box for future guests.

Excellent central location! Fantastic host!
The apartment is lovely! There is a bit of wear and tear, as previous reviews have stated. The apartment for the most part did appear as the pictures are shown online (minus those wear and tear issues - kitchen cabinets need some adjusting, door handles need tightening). The balcony and the views are gorgeous, however, we did not have the umbrella or dining set outside as pictured. It was very clean. All bathrooms were spotless. Our housekeeper, Valary, was fantastic! She came each morning and prepared a traditional Colombian breakfast for us. Upon check in she asked what we liked and we gave her the money and she did all of the shopping, returning the next morning with what she needed to cook for us. She came each day to clean which is also nice for a vacation rental. Again, as previous reviews state Valary speaks no English so google translate became our best friend. The location is fantastic! The music is LOUD, which is clearly stated in other reviews, as well as the description provided by the host, Herve. If this is a problem for some, use the ear plugs provided! They work like a charm, and it is worth the minor irritation to stay here for the central location and views. I also have to agree with another review warning about the number of steps up to the unit. This was not a problem for us, but may be for some with some mobility issues or those not in great shape. Those views for us were worth every one of those 57 steps to the apartment! The AC worked great! We never had a problem with AC, nor a problem with hot water. *Also of note during these time of Covid, there is a lab located on the second floor in case you need testing prior to returning to your country. You don’t even have to leave the building for testing. This makes it SO convenient. (Again, thank you to our housekeeper for pointing this out to us). The host is fantastic and very responsive! I would DEFINITELY recommend this rental for anyone wanting to stay in a perfect location in Cartagena!
