River Retreat excellent stay
We really enjoyed our stay. Marco was very helpful with the check in process. I will say it was a little out of the way to have to check in person to the Coast Estate in Monterey, so an online signature might be more efficient in future, otherwise, the place was clean, beautiful, and we really appreciated all of the little details that went above and beyond (full stocked kitchen supplies, coffee bar, the pet supplies, and the wine and smores were all great!)

Large space and well stocked
Went here for our annual girls trip. 8 of us stayed and the space was very comfortable for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook meals easily. They also left us a bottle of wine, chocolates and a fully stocked coffee bar which was so nice and helpful. We really enjoyed the fire pit, hot tub, and pool table it made us feel like we were really of vacation with all the extra touches. I had a question about the air unit and extra propane for the firepit and the property manager answered my call and questions right away. Also the beds and couches were very clean and comfortable. Even though you are in the valley it was easy to get Ubers if we did not want to drive. The only thing from the listing that I thought we would have easier access to the river but it actually was a steep walk down and not really right there or able to sit next too but could of just been the season or the new vegetation growth and did not affect our stay at all. I would highly reccommend this place.

Great home for our family!
Our family had a wonderful stay at this Carmel Valley home! My husband and I went on vacation with our two adult kids and their spouses, a 4-year old grandchild and a dog for 4 nights. The house more than accommodated all of us, had lots of great indoor and outdoor visiting spaces, a well-stocked kitchen since we cooked all our meals there, activities to keep us all occupied, and comfy places to read and take naps. The beautiful backyard was a highlight, surrounded by nature, a hammock, hot tub and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and keeping warm in the cooler nights. It was a fun, relaxing, rejuvenating long weekend for us all!

Long weekend on our way to Napa Valley
Wonderful stay for our Easter long weekend getaway!! Enjoyed everything about this property. Perfect for the 6 of us. The kitchen was amazing in layout and we never felt like we were stepping on one another. Hot tub was a special bonus. Located close to everything! If in the area again, would definitely stay here!! Lovely, Clean and Comfortable!
Our family of 7 was in town for a wedding. The house very comfortable with plenty of room to hang out, eat, etc. The kitchen was well stocked and very clean. Our adult children and spouses appreciated the king sized beds and enjoyed the hot tub and shuffleboard. It’s a beautiful and peaceful setting. We would stay here again!

2023 Winter Holiday
The River Front Property in Carmel Valley couldn't have been a more perfect house and location for our holiday with our young adult children, their partners and my in-laws who are in their 80's. The home was spacious so everyone (all 8 of us) had plenty of room to spread out, the beds were all extremely comfortable and the showers had great water pressure. The house appeared to have been recently remodeled and was spotless. The backyard was an absolute dream with a jacuzzi, barbecue, smoker, gorgeous trees and plenty of comfortable chairs along the river. There was also an enclosed courtyard for our small dog which made bringing our beloved pet easy. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in and we had plenty of space to play games, including foosball and billiards. The location was also conveniently located to Big Sur, Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Lastly, the check in process was easy and very thorough. I'm sure we'll rent this accommodation again and I will definitely recommend to my friends and family.

Family get together

Amazing property!!
Our stay at the Carmel River Retreat was fantastic! We were in Carmel Valley for a friend's wedding. There were six of staying in the house. The house is beautiful, spotless and had every amenity that one could possibly need. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning, make our coffee and sit out on the deck listening to the birds chirping, the relaxing sound of the river that is directly behind the house and greeting our day before our various activities. When we walked into the house, there was a detailed binder with information about the house, as well as, a bottle of wine and chocolates. There was also a basket with items to make s'mores by the fire pit. Such thoughtful gestures! Marco was our Guest Services Coordinator and was extremely helpful. He let us borrow his personal steamer for the weekend, which came in handy for our wedding guest attire. Marco texted me a few hours after we checked into the house to make sure that everything was ok and to let me know to text him if we had any issues/questions during our stay. When we stopped by the office on the day we arrived, Ramona was delightful and welcoming! We all commented at the end of our stay that we wished we had a couple more days just to hang out and relax as the house was so conducive to relaxing. We were quite busy with wedding activities at Bernardus Lodge and Spa that is less than five minutes from the house. We hope to stay at this property again in the future! Cheers!

4 couples for a relaxing getaway. Great home to visit and catch up. The river was rolling from all the rain and it was beautiful and sounded fantastic. Loved everything about this place! Great spot for valley weekend.

Beautiful property but challenging check-in
Accurately described in the listing. One slider door in back was broken (did not lock). Did not receive access code until after 4:00 pm checkin time. We were waiting in the rain. Calls went to voicemail. Finally may daughter on her phone was able to get the code from the manager.

Best weekend in a long time!
We were very happy with the house. The beds were very comortable, the house was clean. The thoughtful accomodations, including the bottle of wine and smoes ingidiens left for us, made us feel welcome. We had a wondeful time, enjoying the house and beautulf yard and it's visitors - turkey family was visiting in the morning. We are sure, we'll come again next time.

The best host and place ever!
This was the best getaway experience ever! The location was amazing! So beautiful! And the home is new, equipped with more conveniences and dishes that you can possibly use! The backyard is wide open spaces. The whole place was perfect for my mothers 94th birthday! It was equipped for my mother as well as my 2 year old granddaughter! We had 4 generations of fun! The hosts were also the most communicative, responsive and understanding I've ever met. They make sure your stay is wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We will definitely be going back here if it's available. If you're looking for a place in this area, I strongly recommend this getaway!

Lack of air conditioning during hot summer stay was problematic
We have stayed at hundreds of vacation rentals and I have never given a poor review until now. We had initially planned a 5 nite family reunion at this property. My wife and I arrived, and the outside temp was 100+ and interior was 90 degrees. We turned on the air conditioning, but the side of the house w/ the 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms didn't cool off. I called the property management company rep, who verbally shrugged ("there is no A/C in the bedrooms but there are some fans"). I pointed out that the VRBO ad title said ""4/2 house with air conditioning" and nothing in the property description mentioned that the bedrooms/baths had no A/C (the management company has since revised the VRBO ad). After discussing w/ our adult kids, they decided to wait a few days to come to the property when the weather (forecast) was expected to cool off and the bedroom temps were expected to be bearable (my grandson is 1 years old and a baby can't nap in a 90 degree bedroom). So our family reunion was unfortunately and unexpectedly shortened. I raised the issue to Susie, who is the property management owner, and she simply didn't respond, which (as a former VRBO rental owner in Yosemite) I found appalling. So zero stars for customer service/responsiveness and for false advertising (though they have since changed the vrbo ad). Besides that, its a nice house. There is a smores kit and firepit that we enjoyed. There is a coffee station that is well stocked. It's about a 15+ minute drive to Carmel proper and the beach. There's some local Carmel Valley grocery stores and restaurants. But I would avoid this rental place during hot weather until they add A/C to the other side of the house.
