My husband and I stayed in this old farmhouse for a week with our two children (5 & 14) and the teenager brought a friend.
The property is beautiful. Very spacious, plenty of room for us all.
It is a very old farmhouse, with unique old property quirks, and has been dressed with beautiful antique furniture, and is well stocked with everything you would ever need and more. The property owners live just up the road, and were super attentive of all our needs, providing a wonderful welcome basket of goods that were appreciated after a long drive. They also provided a lot of local knowledge of activities and fun things to do in the area. I cannot thank Marylyn and HD enough for all of their hospitality.
A week wasn't long enough for us to do all the things we planned, but we also enjoyed time on the beautiful wrap around porch, relaxing, listening to the plentiful birds, and watching the cattle and horses which are right next to the property. My 5 year old son loved watching the cows, calves, and a bull in the morning which were almost on the doorstep (separated by a fence!!).
We explored the trail that was accessible from the property - steep in places - and found a tortoise on the top! The Bristol caverns just down the road were absolutely stunning. We swam in the lake at Jacobs Creek recreation center. Cycled the creeper trail just 30 minutes down the road, played at the nature center and splash pad at Steele Creek park, had lunch at Painters creek marina, and played on the giant inflatable water course at Sportsmans marina.
All in all a wonderful relaxing break, made possible with such a picturesque surrounding at this beautiful home from home.
I wish I could give it 10 stars! We definitely plan to return.
