My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed 10 days in this lovely lake house. We loved every minute there, especially the screen porch, the views from the upper deck, the canoe, & of course, the new dock & "perfect" beach. The clear water & gradual sandy bottom entry is perfect for all ages. In June, the water is chilly, but we still enjoyed several swims & appreciated the water "noodles" to use. The lake is funny because the wind changes directions & can kick up waves from the north or the south. The good part about the location & wind is that we never saw either a black fly or a mosquito during our time there (June). The canoe is great & we took it out several times to go fishing or to explore the coast. Our niece came to visit overnight & a couple other relatives came for lunch & thoroughly enjoyed the home.
The home appears recently remodeled, is very clean & comfortable. We enjoy cooking and this kitchen is well-stocked with virtually any pot, pan, or utensil one could want. Appliances were all in good working condition and the climate controls were perfect. The hosts have been very generous with the linens, supplying kitchen, bath, & beach towels. The beds/sheets were comfortable as were the living room chairs/recliners/sofa. The fluffy throws were appreciated on a couple chilly evenings. The decor & layout is attractive & functional making the house very comfortable & easy to love.
It is clear that the hosts have worked to make this home a joy for others. They even provided a bundle of firewood for the firepit. We started to set the firepit up to use but the strong wind changed our minds and we left it ready for the next vacationers instead.
The neighborhood is quiet & we did enjoy walking the loops around the campground next door. Some families & kids came daily to the public access area (which is adjacent to the house beach) but it was no problem. We spent most of our days on the porch or in the living room although we ventured out for a short hike at Pondicherry Park in Bridgeton, & took a day trip (a 2-hour drive) out to the Camden/Rockport coast to see the tower view from Mt. Battie, grab a lobster roll, & picnic at Owl's Head lighthouse park. We also took an evening to tour Long Lake on the Songo River Queen (a replica paddlewheel boat) out of Naples. We intended to eat out more, but the house was so nice we just cooked in and enjoyed it instead! Thank you to the hosts/owners for creating such a beautiful vacation experience for us!
