We had a very nice stay in the Shell Cottage. It was clean, had a fully stocked kitchen, a nice living room area, and comfortable bed and linens. It was a short walk (~5 minutes) from the historic downtown shops and restaurants which made it very easy to get around and visit Beaufort. The Shell cottage is dog friendly and we had plenty of room to set up our dog's crate in the main living space for sleeping. There is no place immediately around the cottage for a dog to potty, but there is a park directly across the street which made it easy to have the dog with us.
We didn't realize this cottage was part of a compound of several other cottages that all shared a driveway and are positioned close together, so we were a little surprised upon arrival and felt a little lack of privacy while the other guests were also outside their units. For example - the chairs outside the units are situated on the shared driveway in more of a communal format rather than a more private individual stay. That said, all guests were very friendly and respectful.
(If you have a group traveling to Beaufort this could be a really fun opportunity to have multiple people in your party all stay on the property in the various cottages!)
Overall - we would recommend this little spot if you're going into Beaufort! It's casual, clean, has everything you need, and is conveniently located.
