Cool house: Serious Cleanliness Deficiencies!
The house is magnificent. However, when entering, immediately noticed filthy stained living room furniture. The more we explored, the more grossed out we were. Tried to get quick nosh together — became a contest of who found the most ridiculous situation. Dead lizard in a bowl definitely won! We had to throw every single dish, glass, pan, utensils, etc., into dishwasher. Cobwebs filled with bugs everywhere. Carpets dirty or stained. Corners of rooms and sliding door tracks were filled with dirt and dead bugs. None of the outdoor furniture on any of the 4 balconies cleaned in a very long time. The tabletops were thick with dirt and all cushions billowed dust. There was no cloth on rooftop umbrella, rendering it useless. Some windows were downright opaque with dirt. The hot tub had a scum line and stunk, and the cover was falling apart & it wasn’t even the right-fitting cover for the tub!
Okay, now for the GOOD: all of the bathrooms, bedding, and fridge were very clean!
Upon reaching out to management company, the Guest Experience Manager was immediately in touch to help make things right. Sent hot tub tech out that night. Sent cleaner next day. Still wasn’t made perfect, but tolerable. Shame such an iconic house isn’t being kept up. VRBO does not give enough space here to tell all. Free late checkout was our only perk for issues. Hopefully they will improve cleaning expectations, provide some of the missing items, and update broken/stained furniture.
