Overall I felt rather underwhelmed by the services provided by QHotels. Mostly minor things but when they add up it really does start to inhibit the experience. The room looked nice enough, big bath, tea and coffee facilities and plenty of storage space which is handy when you’re doing long stays. However, the lack of dressing gowns, slippers and a mini fridge was disappointing for a spa hotel. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy or luxurious but even just somewhere cold to keep a bottle of water or Pepsi would have been ideal especially given that there was ample space for one under the tea and coffee caddy. After freshening up, we headed down to dinner around 8pm and were told that the restaurant which closed at 9:30pm had no availability despite there being plenty of empty tables around which clearly meant there was a staffing issue. The hostess looked visibly shaken and run off her feet, she was extremely apologetic stating the lounge bar had the same menu but we couldn’t be seated in the restaurant at this time. I spotted the cocktail menu which consisted mostly of martinis but a little discretion at the top suggested they could make other cocktails. I asked for a piña colada, a bramble, a paloma or anything with Chambord and was told they couldn’t do it. If you’re not going to offer a full bar service then don’t state otherwise. Considering this hotel was recommended to me by a friend who thought it was a Marriott, I sadly didn’t get anywhere near a Marriott quality stay.
