What was suppose to be an enjoyable christmas getaway turned into a nightmare upon arrival! The key safe was empty but we Managed to get a key set form reception and then we opened the door, to be met by well what can only be described as the most dirty and unhygienic apartment i have ever seen in my life! Beds slept in, wet towels all over the floors, adult toys on the kitchen work tops, razors on the bath, bins full of rubbish including medication and an awful smell! we contacted the host straight away who told us we we lying and there was nothing wrong! We asked for a full refund so we could try and find somewhere else to stay but he refused! We contacted VRBO who were just as unhelpful! They told us the host would have the room cleaned by 9am the following morning, resulting in us having to spend our first night moving between open bars and the beach! Not ideal for anyone, but especially not two females! 9am the following morning came, and surprise surprise the room wasn’t cleaned, we were still being refused a refund and we still had no accommodation! the host was still refusing to believe there was anything wrong, and Vrbo wouldn’t do anything because they said a refund is at the hosts discretion, even though they have a payment protection plan, this isn’t a real thing! I won’t be using VRBO again and the community team at the apartment have been informed regarding the host and the apartment not meeting the standards
