I really wanted to love this place. This was my fourth trip to AMI and Bean Point was where I wanted to be!
However there were so many things we had to deal with that it wasn’t the relaxing trip I had hoped for. This unit is overpriced for its condition, even with it’s location.
The WiFi was “offline” for 4 1/2 out of our six days. We had maintenance come over a few times but it kept going offline. We aren’t addictive WiFi or anything, but cell service (AT&T) didn’t reach the unit and their landline is dependent on the WiFi. So without WiFi you can’t call, text, stream movies or use the internet for even simple things like looking up restaurants, things to do, etc. They have a tv with cable which was ok, but it’s hard to sit down for a movie when it takes three hours because of commercials, especially when your teens are used to streaming. I needed WiFi for work; very frustrating.
The furniture is tired. There were several dirty dishes (Silverware, a pan and a plate) and the blender had slime growing in the bottom. The tub was backed up our first night and took four hours to drain from one shower, but they promptly fixed it the next morning. I will say that they are on top of things when I called! I just got so tired of calling.
The unit had no broom to sweep up all the sand. Had to go buy that. Fridge has no ice maker or cold water dispenser, but there was two trays in the freezer. We had to constantly stay on top of the ice so there was enough for five people. The couch bed is right under the AC vent, but only a thin knitted blanket was provided so my son used the mattress cover like a sleeping bag. There is also a very bright light just outside the window that stays on all night lighting up the whole living room. My son was ok with it but that might be an issue for some.
The grounds around the pool were littered with broken and left behind trash, pool and beach gear. After watching all the tenants move out during the week and no one claiming or cleaning up the broken things, I picked up a garbage bag full of cups, an old hand towel and broken toys.
For the price we paid I would not stay here again. Bean point is nice but I would have rather have spent the money on a nicer unit elsewhere on the island.
The management company is easy to work with and does help as best they can. But after six days I couldn’t wait to leave.
