Our family, me, my wife and our two sons (aged 18 and 15) had a memorable time at the property. We were blessed with warm and dry weather, which was cheering especially since the forecasts had promised rain, and we made the most of the location, driving out to Keswick one day, Grizedale on another and going for a long car tour of the North West lakes that included the awe-inspiring Whinlatter, Hardknot and Wrynose mountain passes. But for the rest of the week we walked from the cottage and say the lovely Stockghyll waterfall, the "Champion Tree" walk in the woods to the south of Ambleside, and we climbed up Loughriff Fell, the big hill opposite the cottage which afforded lovely views of Ambleside on the descent. And Ambleside itself is such a gem. Although busy, it has a enchanting charm.
The cottage is so well appointed and so beautifully decorated, with comfortable furniture and aesthetically pleasing furnishings, it fitted our family so well.
